LMC Bumper License Plate Lighting

My old license plate lights had burnt plugs & the tabs broke off the buld housings so they had to be zip tied in place. So, as I was updating my 8yr old front light housings w/some new 'glass' Spyder units, I bought some fresh license plate hardware to have fresh parts @ both ends.

I spliced in fresh bulb sockets, added fresh bulbs, & installed the new license plate light housings. I switched the lights on to make sure everything worked. They lit up w/o issue but there was light emitting from a gap between the bumper & the bulb housing. I went to check the housing to make sure it was 100% seated & as soon as I grabbed it, the housing/cover fell off. Not even 5mins old & I have to fix them.

They weren't expensive but even so, they're cheaply made CRAP. Buyer beware.....

Building a small, high rpm engine with the perfect bore, stroke and rod ratio is very impressive.

Sorry to hear about that. I have not normally had issues like that on stuff I had gotten for the 70, but did have failures for things on my later models, 88-2005 stuff. The size of the picture probably is what kept you from posting it. Do you remember the error ir gave you?

I'm on a new laptop vs my previous one.

My 'standard' drill is to always to resize the images smaller (700x562) prior to uploading to the site. It was giving me a "security token is missing" message but I've been accessing the site for @ least 3wks now w/this laptop & I'm 'logged-in' so IDK.

Re: LMC Bumper License Plate Lighting

In the mid 90's I made a good size order from LMC.

80% of it had issues.

The parts were not as bad as the customer service though.

That was another 'gripe' I had w/my transaction.... I ordered a new front grille plus all of the rear license plate stuff & grille related plastic fasteners (the little snap-in nuts for securing the turn-signal housings to the grille).

The grille & other parts were shipped separately. Grille arrived Wed via FedEx; the other small parts arrived late on Fri via USPS mail.

Re: LMC Bumper License Plate Lighting

Well, the grille was an issue as well.

Seems the material around the parking-light housing retainer tabs was thicker than the snap-in plastic retaining hardware so I had to gradually grind the back side of each tab (8qty) until the retaining nuts actually 'snapped' in place.

Always something, I guess.

Normally that "security token is missing" is error for when pictures are to big to be handled

I believe you are correct.

I know I specifically edited the photos for size as I know it needs to be done to successfully add them. I just went back into my pics files & checked the image/s file size & they're not the edited size.

I tried again (several times). Each time I checked, it's not saving my edits. I googled 'how to' for this laptop & followed the 'updated' procedure (Windows 10) as it's slightly different.

That didn't work but it popped up a warning that 'motion photos' can't be edited. Thanks for the follow-up reply as it led me to answers.

It seems my latest phone keeps defaulting to this 'motion photo' setting despite my attempts to disable it. I'll have to save a copy of the images & edit them from there apparently.

Re: LMC Bumper License Plate Lighting

I found if I load 1 big one at a rime, then add another then load it by itself, it will take it. Just can't do multiple big stuff.

I went back & edited the images I had downloaded to my laptop (had to save them as a copy to edit out the 'motion' feature) & toggled the setting bit on my phone camera for future pics.

Thanks again for all you guys do to assist the membership.

Re: LMC Bumper License Plate Lighting

Ive ordered alot of stuff from LMC, and tho nothing ever fits 100% perfect, I never had any issues. I bought a rear bumper and all the trimmings (including the license plate lights) and mine fits fine. I washed it with a mitt, and brush and are staying on just fine. My gripe (not even really a gripe) is the light shines on the ground, behind the bumper. Not a huge deal, just need to paint it black.

I just finished peeling all the silicone (?) off the base of the housings. I checked the other side of the assembly where the top seats & zero traces of silicone.
