Fitting a floor pan patch panel

So I bought a floor patch pan from AMD, it was their X-Brand patch, bought mostly due to it being advertised as a thicker gauge, and went up the kick panel some. Now after cutting out the old floor, and preparing to fit the new pan, taking measurements using the cab mounting bolt divot in the pan as a reference, I am not thrilled on the fitment of this pan. It is not lost on me that a replacement patch panel may need a little fitting, but the kick up for the toe panel seems way too far back into the cab. Plus the old seem goes straight across in the cab, where this seems to kick back even more into the cab. Is this just the shape of a pan now, or do I need to find a different brand of pan? Is there a pan that you have used that fit better? I'm not a world class metal worker, but this seems way off.. Am I wrong?
