Aluminum 72 Blazer?

Questions:
Can you paint an aluminum intake manifold with Chevy orange paint and have it stick and not come off?

What years are CST Blazers? Is it possible to have a 72 CST? For some reason I am thinking CST was earlier. I just looked at a 72 Blazer that had CST badges on the doors. This thing was loaded with PS, PB, air, posi, trim stuff, etc.

another ?-can I use the 16" 8 lug rims I got off of my 79 on a 8 lug 3/4 ton truck with drum brakes? I heard that the lug size was smaller on the drum set up.

local paint supplier and get a spray can of self-etching primer and prime it with that first and the you can paint it. Later, FCG

Self etching primer will work but it goes on kinda thin. You can use urethane primer and wet sand it smooth before you paint.

Prime an intake? Ive just painted them with dupli color engine paint and not had any problems

Ive painted some of them stock alum Intakes and some aftermarkets I just make sure there grease and oil free by wiping them down it carb cleaner or laccquuer thinner.

CST was an option on all 69-72 blazers. however, the last year for it on trucks was '70. After that it became the Cheyenne and Cheyenne Super trim.

and yes, you can use the newer rims. i don't know what size they are, but 15" was stock with the drums. only need to worry about size when you upgrade to discs, you will need to grind calipers to fit 15" over the rotor. But 16" and 16.5" will work AOK.

Can urethane primer be used over paint? The reason I ask is, if I sand some surface rust spots, there will be bare metal that meets with the existing paint. Am I going to worry about feather edging with the original paint?

thanks for the input. The rims I have are 16" off of my 79. If I can sell more stuff I may get this Blazer.

I just used regular engine paint on an aluminum intake for my 69. It has held up well but I don't drive the truck all that much. I just did a 6cyl intake with the por15 stuff, worked out ok.

The reason I ask may seem obvious but what I want is to use the edelbrock intake and carb with the motor looking original as possible. I can use my stock air cleaner with a 1406 right?
