2 ?'s about a brake booster

i bought a booster off of ebay and had a question or two....first one is...
on the front of the booster on the right, there is supposed to be some sort of plastic piece that the rubber hose connects to from the mainfold,right?...mine is missing the little plastic peice...it has the rubber grommet, but not the little angled piece, what is that called and where can i get one?...then where do i run the vacuum hose to,the intake?

secondly....
i cant figure out how this thing even hooks up....it came with the rod that comes from the pedal, but on the back of the booster, above the rod that goes inside the booster, there is a bracket with 2 levers that move and each one has 2 holes in it....how in the world do you get this thing to work?....what goes where?

Check Valve

The plastic part you are talking about is a check valve. It allows the booster to hold vacuum if the engine cuts out for some reason. I bought this booster new and replaced it with an aluminum one from Summit Racing. I think I still have the original plastic one that came with the booster when I bought it. I would be willing to let it go. If you are interested, PM me. I don't have the rubber grommet, I used it with the aluminum one as Summit doesn't include that.

1st answer: Go to any auto parts store and look in the help section. I can't remember what it's called, but that's where I got mine.
2nd question: The T rod from the pedal connnects to the bottom holes, the rod from the booster connects to the top.
At least this is the way mine is set up. Hope this helps a little.

Gone bad you say you bought an aluminum booster from Summit? What is the part number and what year truck do you have. Also one other thing how much does this weigh? I am putting Disk brakes on the front of mine and may need to get booster setup?

Mike,

That was my booster that you bought off eBay. I may have the plastic fitting you are referring to. Also, you might also be missing one of the pins that hooks the push rod to the booster lever. i didn't see it in the eBay pics. Let me look for both pieces this evening. If I find them, I'll mail them to you tomorrow.

The check valve also prevents a blown baffle in the event of a bakfire.

gonebad2, did the shaft that comes out the back of your booster have a rubber boot on it? I can't tell from the pic you posted, it's kinda dark. Mine was shot and I'm looking for a new one, or something equivalant that would keep the dirt out.

Jason....there is one like that on there already, but i dont know if i need another one....the one that is on there is on the smaller rod coming out of the back of the booster....and on the end of the longer rod (from pedal to booster) there is a small pin with threads and a nut that looks like it connects to the levers on the back of the booster....unless that pin you have goes on the other end of the long rod....on that end it is just a small hoop in the end....does the end with the pin that has the nut go on the pedal end?...does one single bit of this make any sense?

Yes, The booster came with the rubber boot. I bought the booster from Master Power Brakes. They may have a replacement. I would try your GM dealer first though. I would imagine they can still get that part for you.

I can't tell you how to do it without having it in front of me or some better pictures of it. I think the only piece you are missing is the pin that I have. That arm shown in the pic should swing up.

I think it goes like this, but am not 100% sure.

Mike,

I don't have the plastic check valve, but think you can find those at any auto parts store.

Please send me your address again.
