Yours is a four pin. The 5 pin (which they don't make) is ESC which is installed on all the 80's 305s. They have 3 pins too ,but I *think* it was for cars.

You can run it straight out of the box, but I would recommend setting the advance springs and weights to your application. The dist will come with an assortment of springs and stuff, and directions. It may be set up just how you need it right out of the box though.

MSD has it in their catalog that there are 3 pin modules & that MSD doesn't have modules for this application - I've never seen one either.

Msd

MSD is a very good choice, but setting up the correct springs is important.

I just ordered an 8361 and that one and most other MSD's will come with two silver springs, and these are too stiff. You will not get full advance until 4000 RPM's +, way too late. The stock advance bushing stop (blue) is set for about 21 degrees.

Most 350 small blocks want 32 to 36 degrees total advance and that should come in at about 3000 to 3400 RPM's.

I am planning on starting with 11 degrees initial timing, going to two light blue springs which should give me full mechanical advance at about 3000 RPM's, and leaving the stock blue advance stop bushing, so I should wind up with a total advance of about 32 degrees at 3000 RPM's. And with 11 degrees initial timing I may also disconnect the vac. advance.
