truck wont idle, carb leaking fuel
My truck wont idle on its own, and the carburator is leaking fuel out the back thru the tube in my drawing. It sounds like the truck is missing.
I had this happen once before, but I figured I just flooded it, and in the morning it fired right up. This time it didnt work. I have a newer Holley 600CFM, w/ electric choke.... Please excuse the crude drawing. HELP!!!:p

Possible Float valve is leaking or stuck open.

The floats sometimes develop a leak, allowing gas to get inside the float so it doesn't float. When the float doesn't float, it allows the fuel to continue entering the carb bowl. Got it? If it's like most carbs, you have to pull the top off the carb to access the float. You'll want to replace the gasket when you're done. A rebuild kit normally includes everything you'll need. Jewels pulled her 2 barrel off ot rebuild it, I've done a couple on the engine (if the carb to intake gasket doesn't need to be replaced).
good luck, scott

Its not leaking out of the carb bowl. Its coming out of the tube at the rear of the carburator???

Secondary float needle and seat are dirty or float sticking. Mine would flood out when I stopped and got progressively worse. Take the bowl off clean the needle and seat and get a good fuel filter. Mine had fine rust on it.

I think that tube is the bowl vent, made just for this reason.
good luck, scott

Thanks alot Guy's!! Man I'll never get over how cool this board has been. That sounds exactly like the problem with my truck.
I am going to tear into it this morning.

DanoDMano you might want to check the spark plugs also . To much fuel going down the intake will foul them . You might also check out the oil dip stick and see if there is a smell of gas if there is you will have to change your oil . Jose

mine was doing the same thing. I changed the Power valve and it took care of the problem. I have heard Holley's are notorious for blowing these
