Need fast repley, Starter Question.

What year did GM start making there smaller starter, was it in the mid 80s or the 90s. The reason why I ask is because I want a smaller starter that clears headers and can be bought at a local car parts store. Any ideas.
Thanks

I think he wants the later short solonoid starter. I'm not sure when they used them, but I'm pretty sure they were only for smaller cars like the Citation and Cavalier.

Pretty sure the one you are speaking of requires a flywheel change to use

Yeah he is talkin about the car starters that use a 153 tooth flywheel You can get mini starters off ebay prettty cheap and there good quality

Ive got a mini starter delco for the 168 tooth flywheel its great

Later model S10 trucks use them so if you can find one at a wrecking yard cheap go for it My friends 99 S10 4.3 has the same exact starter that My 72 runs wich is a mini delco
