You could use your cherry picker and hold it up with ropes on all four sides while you bolt it down.

Just a thought.

It is pretty easy on a 73-80 (rest the back of the hood on the cowl/hinges while you loosly bolt it on), not sure on a 81+...never done it before.

If you care about your paint I would get a couple people to help you out. I pulled mine off when I was taking the cowl off to track down a leak and I don't think I could of ever get it on by myself. But you may be able to rig something up with the shop hoist.

I did it once on crutches with a full leg cast by myself on a truck with 4" lift & 35" tires. It sucks. Once I got it up in place, I put a couple of the heavy moving blankets at the rear in an attempt to weigh down the back of it. On crutches, it was extremely hard, but without crutches it would only be somewhat difficult.

Just put something that won't break the windshield at the back of it so that when you lift it in place, it will sort of stay there without you getting a hernia holding it up.

I should mention though, there is no way to do it this way without scratching the paint. Mine was a junk truck that I wahted to get back together so it could be hauled away. After thinking about what I read, I decided you needed that information.

Get a friend to help.

You all should be ashamed for giving him such frivolous advice!

The part with the hinge holes goes in back OC.

I also recommend that you use bolts....they seem to help hold it down hehe

Yeah, and the shiny side goes up...

Find somebody to help you. It's not worth the risk.

I agree, get someone to help you. It isn't very hard, dosent' take alot of strength, but it difficult to do alone unless you want to scratch up your paint. Only takes a few seconds to get it on and off with a helper, and they can hold the hood while you bolt it down.

Bolt it down semi-tight and close the hood SLOWLY. If it looks like it will hit or is out of alignment...simply adjust it and try again.

You should have traced the hinge outline on the underside hood before you removed it.

You should've marked the location of the hinges on the inside of the hood, that way it goes back exactly where it was.

Oh thank god I did

I lightly etched it with a chisel in case the mark was wiped away.
