Great time at the junk yard
Brought an old 85 mustang for a friend for trashing----unbelieveable. Perfect rear hatch, pass door etc. and they just----crushed it!! Was so neat to watch. Then they go stick the forklift forks right through the side windows of a 94 Cadillac with perfect body---pull tires, gas tank, battery and the rest goes into the crusher. CRUNCH!!! I could have sat there all day watching if it weren't so cold. I asked the guy if he was crushing any old chev trucks---and he said hell no, they never go!! My kind of yard!
The crushing guys came in from another state and pay the yard $55. a ton for the cars they crush. sounds like a good deal to the yard ----- |

Wow Huck, $55 a ton is a heck of a price for a crusher to pay, my aunt just did her husbands junkyard last year and $26 a ton. Scrap is up right now though.

Stuff that goes through my mind while at junk yards is, that these cars were once someones brand new pride and joy. Then theres the people that built them....the money they generated(fueling, repairs, financing). Then they end up at some graveyard, not much unlike people.

Is it just me or could you spend all day just roaming around a junk yard. Not really looking for anything just looking and wondering how the cars got there and how they were neglected throught the years.

In the case of some wrecks, you don't even want to know. I found this truck in the yard sitting on its side, I pulled it over with the GMC, and found a puddle of blood underneith

where i used to work there was a mid to late 80s couger that we where not allowed to part out as it had bullet holes all through the drivers side and the windshield, kinda freaked me out i never looked inside of it, and there was an all original never parted 55 ford big window swb truck with a 292 y block and a fordomatic trans, all there but i was told that the motor was locked up

It stank something horrible too, in the winter yet. It was gone by the end of the day.

Hey guys, there was nothing sad about watching old cars being crushed to become new cars, beer cans, or tawian sheet metal for out trucks. Steel is up over 40% since Jan. China has a big demand as our greedy business leaders have moved manufacturing over there.
It is scarry to see a bad wreck but ---on the upside, WE tend to drive just a we bit slower after seeing one! So, little animals have a place to live in the old cars, we get to buy parts cheep, we get to recycle stuff so we don't keep creating new by pulling iron out of mother earth--etc. The glass is half FULL. AND IT IS GREAT FUN TO WATCH WHAT CRUSHES FIRST----I COULD WATCH FORDS AND JAP CRAP GET CRUSHED ALL DAY---NO PASS ME ANOTHER BEER~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ |
