Lightbulb How About This?

I know you guys have put the 425 & 500ci caddy motors in these trucks, but what about a Northstar 32v Cadillac motor? I work at a Cadillac dealer so I know the techs. One of the guys up here has put one in a fiero of his. He worked for Design One on a few things and then he put one in his fiero.....MAN IT'S FAST.

I can get some of the stuff (engine, intake, throttle body..etc) cheap! Should I attemp it?

SURE! Tell us how it goes.
I was watching "Rides" the other night and they were putting the Northstars in hotrods. Looked like fun.

My friend up here at work (fiero guy) is also the tranny guy for the cadillacs and he was building my 700r4 anyway.....but he said the only thing we have to change is the tranny case and the guts of the tranny would all work good.

He said the only hard stuff would be the powersteering pump mounting, cause you turn the intake around so the throttle body is on the front of the motor and this is usually where the p/s pump mounts. I guess I would have to have some remote pump mounted. Then figuring out the water pump stuff....its on the back of the northstars! .....INTERESTING.....!

I remember a while back, seein a website where you could buy crate Northstars, twin turbo, that made 700hp. Thought it looked pretty sweet.

Kinda OT, but how are the Caddies with the Northstars in them? I was looking at a '94 Seville SLS and was wondering how reliable this motor is. Anyone have one? I haven't really heard any bad things but I thought I'd check.

One of the car mags did a story on a Fiero with a northstar. The profiled a guy who did it as a way to develop a kit for Fiero/Northstar conversions. All I really remember was it was wicked fast and supposedly a real handler as well. That said ,I really have never had much use for any vehicle that couldn't haul more than two people without giving up room for an ice chest. So the only fiero part I would be likely to use would be the speaker headrest seats.

A Fiero with a northstar will do high 12's in the 1/4 with no engine mods...stock caddy motor. It'll hit the rev limiter before you even cross the finish line.
Pay some big bucks for a custom chip, and you'll be in the low 12's with no additional hardware, adn get 30MPG all day long with the A/C on full frosty.
I have looked into this time and time again. The expensive part is when you start chucking 1/2 shafts out, and having to get them machined down a fraction of an inch every time. (You'd want Celebrety shafts, they are the strongest GM ones acording to the articles i have read)

I have heard, in the street rod circles, that another tough obstacle is the motor mounts. I don't know the specifics ....
