steering

got my 67 out yestarday, noticed that turning right , it will turn on a dime and give you 9 cents change, but it takes a 40 acre field to turn left , is my st. box not centered or a problem somewhere else? has anyone had this?

count total turns of stearing wheel and devide by two and with stearing wheel in this position you may be able to pull stearing arm off to center. You might not be able to do this either, I don't remember if there is a notch in the stearing gear, if there isn't the best way would take it down to an alignment shop and have them recenter and align. Make sure you tell them what is going on. They will have to center the tie rod ends to the center link. You can somewhat do this yourself by first looking at the tie rod ends to see if they look equal if the arent and one side is way in you can try turning one side in the other side out in equal amounts till they look even. when you are done the steeing wheel will need to be recentered.
