Hood springs OK?
The hood on my '69 sticks up a good half inch in the back on the passenger's side, a little less on the drivers side. I did a search and found Krue's excellent post . Seems straight forward enough but I still have a question: I can push down on the back of the hood and it will (almost) settle into place. As soon as you back over the curb, it pops back up. Is this a sign of weak springs or will simple adjustment fix that?
Thanks. |

It usually means that the pivot pins in the hinge are worn out. Nobody seems to lubricate them anymore

if you need another set of hinges i gotta a couple that are in the way. not sure if they would be any better. one guy (i forgot who) just lowered the mount an inch when he got tired of messing with it problem solved.

New hinges are the answer. GM dealer or aftermarket, it's your choice.

gerry giordano
I was quoted $65.00 each from a local dealer. This did not include springs.

Aren't hood hinges and springs a dime a dozen, I've got 3 or 4 myself.

Non worn out, original hood hinges are as rare as rocking horse crap.
If you invest in a very nice paint job on a very nice truck, you won't want the hood fitting badly. New hinges are a cheap price to pay to have the hood fit properly.

The paint is new & real nice. New hinges & springs from the dealer are best?

That's funny as hell. I was laughing so hard I think I ruptured my spleen.
