Where is blinker unit loacted

Where is it located on a 68 chevy pickup 3/4 ton 2 wheel drive LB 350 SB?

Exactly what part are you asking about? The flasher? The switch?

The flasher is plugged into the fuse box, just above your left foot if you are driving. The switch is in the column.

Well the blinker lights come on but stay on. They stopped blinking again. I figure it is a grounding problem. But just curious where to check to make sure th eblink uit is not sying or not grounded properly.

Check your bulb's first they can cause this problem.
Also if you truck has the rear wiring is modified to accept the trailer light's check there also.
Check the emergency flasher on the column to see if it is operational.
You may also have a wireing problem within the column.
Just some things to check.
The flasher is the round tin looking item attached to the fuse block.

this much I know right now. The hazards work fine. The rear wires have been modified for a trailer. Is there a way to test the flasher?

since your hazards still work, the flasher is probably fine. i'd check grounds and lightbulbs. if you still want to test the flasher, i think you can buy a new one for pretty cheap.

The hazard lights and the blinker lights use different flashers. Just because the hazards work doesn't mean the blinker flasher isn't bad...

d'oh there i go speaking before thinking. and just a couple weeks ago, my blinker fell out but the hazards still worked.

Quick way to check you flasher, is to swap the two around...the 4 way one for the turn signal one.
However, chances are your going to end up with a bad bulb or a ground problem.

Okay, worst case, you have to hang your arm out the window and use the old 'hand signal'. If you have manual steering, you might want to start lifting weights with your right arm so you can crank that wheel while using the left to signal.

If all the bulbs light up but just wont flash, then change the flasher on the fuse panel, if you have bulbs that dont light up then you need to fix them first, the resistance from the electricity of the lights causes the flasher to heat up and open.

That what I am doing right now..lol Problem is that the shell on my truck hangs past the side of the cab about 5 or 6 inches. So people or police will not see the hand signals..lol IF I switch the 4 ways to the blinkers, will the blinkers work? Or will all 4 blinkers work @ same time?
