Yep, that's what kept me from starting my 71 w/ the new cab! The cab came off of a 70 chevy w/ auto and ac, of course the chassis is a 71 w/ manual. I remember disconnecting the switches when swapping steering columns but didn't think anything about it. Live and learn.

I was going to start it after installing my new manifolds from dubie and exhaust from JCW. I have to say the exhaust from JCW fit perfect. I'll get some pics later this evening.

Tell me more about this JCW exhaust kit. I've got a 4x4 3/4 ton with straight dump manifolds I need to do something about too.

Jeff, It's 2.25" aluminized exhaust pipe, exits behind rear wheels. Used the factory hanger mount on the driver side and I bent a little angle for the other side. They also have a rear exit. The pipe has real smooth bends no restrictions. The flange fit good to the manifold. I believe it was $134 plus they have 3 different muffler types to choose from (sold seperately about $20 each). I bought mine with a 15% discount for spending $200 and was only $19 shipping through fed-ex. It was made in Canada. I believe it is not for manifolds w/ a heat riser. It would not clear the transfer case. I'll post pics this afternoon.

The pipe has been coated to resist corrosion.

Jim, thanks. Pics would be excellent. I'm particularly interested in the routing thru the x-fer case crossmember area and rear springs.

Here is the budget makeover candidate. Look somewhat familiar?

I have a 68 GMC clip for it and was going to do a long-step (bought a usable one last summer) but am going fleet with it. My son is going to use it for the landscaping biz and I have a rust-free fleet (albeit dented) box from AZ still kicking around. The extra hauling volume will be handy for that. We have already redone a cab for it so unfortunately it's going to loose the roof lights.

The color? Med green is my choice.

The P/N I order was: 22SC2910B I went with the bullet (glass pack) mufflers 48SC2855R This is for 67-72 4wd 1/2 and 3/4 ton trucks w/ straight down center dump ram horns. Will fit long and short bed trucks.

You got your exhaust on before mine. That is the only thing holding me up. Waiting on two more pieces of stainless.

Almost forgot, fired right up after I shorted the connector for the neutral safety switch. Sounds good with the new exhaust. Sounds like it has rhodes lifters. Has good oil presure and temp came right up. Cleaned out all the old gas. She's almost ready to roll! Have to hook up the master cyclinder and replace one rear line relocated by the pass side exhaust pipe.

Looking real good! Glad to hear that engine sounds good. I always thought that was a good engine even though we didn't really buy if for the engine. That thing never failed to start even with ancient gas and no tune up in probably 15 years.

I kept the drivetrain. Body/bad and chassis are gone. 1981 K30, 350/465/205 dana 60 and dually 14 bolt. Has a G80, and a flat bed. Going to replace the flat bed. 1985 K20, 350/400/208 10 bolt and SF 14 bolt. I wonder where I can find some 1 tons. Hmmmmm

I always thought that was a good engine even though we didn't really buy if for the engine. That thing never failed to start even with ancient gas and no tune up in probably 15 years.
