dumb question, but are you planning on lifting this truck? if so, dont limit your search just to a Z71. if you can find one for a fair price, by all means pick it up. buying a Z71 truck just to lift it is pointless, since you'll be throwing away everything that makes it a Z71.

1fastc10 has a point. don't just look for z-71s. My truck is not a Z-71, but it still has full skid plates, and i upgraded to the heavy duty shocks. Other than that the Z-71 may have lower gears, which are available as an option by themselves or with other packages, such as a towing package. Some of the Z-71 truck have plastic skid plates, so just look at the equipment on the truck and not just a sticker on the side of the bed. Other than that make sure the intake is not leaking antifreeze and that the rest of the truck doesn't look neglected or abused.

the Z71 package consists of springs/tbs, shocks, the skidplate package, and the sticker on the side of the bed. gear ratio is not affected at all.

I know I'd like it to be a 4x4, (that's what the K's for right?) and do want to lift it. Pardon my ignorance, but are there 4x4's that are not z71s?
