'72 e-brake pedal ass'y in a '67?
What would it take to put a '72 e-brake pedal assembly in a '67?

fab work, not bolt in.. why would you want to do that for ?

Several reasons:
- Pedal is more out of the way than the lever. - I have a reflex for emergency braking that is using a pedal instead of the lever. - In an emergency I'd rather have both hands for steering, gear jamming, etc. - Can put more tension on the cable pushing with your foot than pulling with your arm. - Why did GM go to the pedal, anyway? Please give more details--exactly what kind of fabricating is required? Just drilling holes in the firewall and lower dash is all I can think of.

I also would be interested in some input on this conversion.
If anyone out there has done this, and can speak from experience, let us hear from you. I would also like to install a later model (69-72) floating gas pedal. This issue was recently addressed and determined to require some metal fabrication and or firewall modifications. The reasons given above sound justifiable to me. I am not a diehard original restoration person but mild upgrades can add to the overall enjoyment and functionality of these vehicles. These are product enhancements, which GM engineers worked out for us.

I was considering going to a pedal too in my '67. I just like the looks better. But I'm interested in hearing about the change too if anyone has done this.

Fast, I'm not asking you to go out and convert all of your trucks to pedal e-brakes. If you can enlighten us on the procedures for the conversion I would appreciate it. Otherwise, you can start your own thread to educate the world on the evils of the pedal-operated e-brake.

how do you adjust the e-brake...mine doesn't engage enough to stop the truck....i haven't messed much with it yet...just wondering if anyone could give me some pointers before i start tearing into it.....

I adj. mine by the bolt under the drivers side floor board the 2 cables come together.You can adj it at 1 end it takes alot of slack out

I have done the emergency brake conversion. You need to make a pattern from a 69-72 firewall. Cut it out and make you a template. Then lay it up there and you will see what you will have to move around. I think you will have to weld up the 67-68 fusebox hole and I think one of the large holes for the speedo, I think. Then draw it out and cut new holes. Measure twice and cut once. Not to bad of job. Just take your time. You can use your fusebox, but turn it the other direction. The insulation for the 67-68 is different than the 69-72. So you will have to change it. I think i still have my old template, if you get in a bind. Try to make one when you get the brake assembly. I sure I missed something, but it all falls into place. Makes a cleaner interior.

STP67-72 Thanks for the input.
I've now got a good idea of what it will take to make it happen. I will admit that it helps to have the 71 as a guide. I also have a spare step brake to play with.
