WTB 6 lug spare tire carrier

Found this message board today researching parts for my 70 gmc 1/2 ton shortstep so be gentle on me.

I am looking for a 6 lug side mount spare carrier for my truck. I found a dented fender for it but no carrier. Any help?

My truck is 57k mile rust free/dent free truck. I am changing the driver fender because I like the look of the side mount. I'll offer up my current fender wen I get my new one.

thanks.

Welcome to the board from the Puget Sound. This is a friendly board - no "newbie" name calling. Just a great group of guys & gals with a common interest. Post some pictures of your rig when you get a chance. It doesn't matter what condition it is in, very few of us have completed our rigs...

I don't have a tire carrier for you but could you please fill out your profile. You never know when a board member is just around the corner from you and may have the exact part or advice you are looking for.

If your fender is in good condition, I might me willing to trade my notched fender and spare carrier. It seems that the actual hardware for the spare tire carrier is becoming difficult to find and is not available in reproduction. I do not use mine because I have gone to an 8 lug drivetrain and my 33's won't fit the carrier. My fender is in excellent condition. Let me know if you are interested and we can exchange photos.

I've updated my profile and here is a picture of my truck. Its from Alabama and other than oxidized paint it is completely dent free and rust free! I real plain Jane with a 250 automatic and no options but at 50k miles it runs like a top.

Howdy

Great looking truck. I had a similar problem when I bought my stepside. I had the correct notched fender and there was a spare tire rack on the truck, but the spare wouldn't fit it. It had been molested by the PO. I was lucky, pickmup had a spare mount on his truck that he didn't want. He sold it to me for $50. I hope you have as much luck.

There was a wraparound step bumper that I removed. It left two small holes.

looks good. did you get my pics? Maybe a stupid question but I am assumimg the side marker openings are the same on a 68 and 70. I was supposed to have received a fender already from the west coast but it has never arrived. I'll call again about it today.

Yes, the fenders are the same from 68-72. 67's are only different in that they don't have side marker light cutouts. I did receive your picture. It looks great!
