The speedo and tach are out of a 70-73 Trans Am. It looks pretty trick in there. I had seen late 70'2 Camaro tachs put in 67-72 clusters before, but I like this better.

It should work. GM (as strange it may sound) were pretty "standard" on their connections. The tach for the F-body will have the same leads and the Speedo only needs a cable. I am just curious as to why he didn't indicate that they weren't real 73-87 gauges. Plus the fact that the speedo and Tach don't match you other gauges.....

160 mph speedo in a truck just seems kinda dumb to me. I put a 100 mph and its a waste too.

I don't know about that! I outrun my 100mph speedo quite regularly.

I'm too tired right now(night shifts again) to get into all of this but Don't fall for it . I've measured those early T/A gauges and MANY many other gauges and nothing factory is as large as ours. he is not showing close enough of pics to see the gap that may be all around the opening. plus there is no 'slight' rewiring in the 73-87's . he has the typical unknowing statement of 'fits all 73-87's' and I can't tell you enough of how wrong that is . He has others up for bid and one has the 7K tach in it and he says it's in perfect working order and it's missing two mounting tabs , one of them a major mounting point, and it's guide for the gear indicator string is broken completly out and that can't be fixed. Plus no pics of how cobbled up the back side of them is . 'caveat emptor'.

Hey Crossy I wanted to thank you for the write up you did on the factory tach stuff. I just added one and the info you put on 73-87.com really helped a lot.

My 85 mph gauge is too small. I find myself often at 85 or above in the black space on the freeway.

Most aftermarket tachs are 100+, so unless you want to use a stock GM one, there isn't much you can do. I wanted to thank Dave too, the tach article is great. It still needs some tweaking, but he and I can work on that. I have also been adding example pics as I find decent ones to use. I would ideally like to find an example of every year or different variation. Here is the link in case it has changed since the last time anyone was there.
