Supposed to be 21-ish, but I have heard of smaller tanks...something like 18 or so gallons.

Aside from the slight size difference is there any other way to tell?

The tank in my '70 is 16 gallons. I thought it was larger until it started sputtering and I barely made it to a gas station in OK in the middle of nowhere. When I topped it off, it was at just over 15 gallons and reading dead empty prior to fill up.
The tank I pulled from the '67 was also 16 gallons. I also had a 2 '65's in the last 10 yrs and they were both 16 gallon tanks.

See, that is odd, becouse my 1970 says nothing about a small tank, the restoration books (I hav almost every year) say nothing about a small tank...yet, they are out there. I doubt it has anything to do with engine or option levels... I've had 2 350 trucks, and one 305 V-6 truck, all wit 21-ish...One 70 CST, one 69 Custom, and one C/30....all with the 21-ish...

That is odd. The 70 is a CST / 350 and the '67 was originally a plain jane base model with a six, which now has a 16 gallon fuel cell.
