Winnipeg Car Show..

Any wpg locals out there went to the show?

I took the whole shebang of wives and kids..Mistake..
Thankfully, it was Winnipeg, so even though the numbers of cars was a bit meagre, it was cheap to get in..
Mini Me was there..So was Cooter..We didn't talk.

From the looks of things, 67-72's ain't popular this year, but lots of other cool rides..Of course the girlies favourite was the 55 VW,
and I goggled at all the old 70's muscle..RT, SS, GTX, it's all good.

And I picked up a catalog from "Low Bux", which is really an Eastwood catalog..Enough specialty tools in there to really put me in the poorhouse..

Anyone out there done business with these guys? Good price?
In my mind, anything that keeps me out of "Canadian Tire" is a good thing.

Going tonight, best part of the whole show is watching the cars leave.

WORLD OF WHEELZ!

i was there on friday (yesterday) & I enjoyed it but I think there's not enough guys doing cool things with paint, i.e.: not enough metailcs & "house of colour" & stuff like that. I saw too much black, not that blacks not good but there were a LOT o' black cars there. I saw Mike there. Only one 67-72 there which made me sad. I go there for ideas & inspiration "one day I'll be done!"

Totally agree with you, pass, and I always thought that Wpg had a lot of cool rods and good builders, but maybe they're all moving into nursing homes or something..There seemed to be a lot of stuff that wasn't really finished, and also a lot of cars that weren't really that special underneath all the colored neon trim..

Maybe we'll have a whole section of Manitoba 67-72's there in a couple of years, eh?..
I kinda make fun of the guys at the show, but I think it'd be fun to show there myself..
Until then, I have a lot of work to do..

This years show sucked basically. They are being critical enough on choosing which cars are allowed in. I didnt bring a camera but I will try to get some pictures of that 68 panel, I think the guys here might be interested in seeing the cargo doors welded together to make a liftgate.

If its that black panel 4x4 with c30 emblems .. I can get pics of it also.. I talk to him once in a while. Its a newer frame under that.. he bought two panels off a friend of mine to make the one.

Anyone ever ask Cooter guy at the show what happened to his former tow truck that was in the show Dukes of Hazards... he with the tour now from what I heard on a radio interview show.

Yeah i was surprised that there was only one of our vintage there, last year or the lear before there were 3 or 4 67-72's, but nothing that you couldn't just see on a cruise night.

Oh well, maybe in a few years if i ever get my truck done, i'll present it agian. Or down the road we should bring a bunch of our trucks and do a little display. I think by that time, Greg's jimmy might even be completely rust-free by then!

Man it's good to be back!
