Will V6 frame mounts work with V8
I had originally posted this in the engine section, but thought I'd try here as well..
I'm in the final stages of obtaining all of the pieces to swap in a fresh 350/th350 combo for my V6, and I was wondering... 1. Will my frame motor mounts work with the sbc? 2. If so, are they in the right position on the frame? Also the rear of the V6 has mounts that attach to a cross member, does the sbc 350 utilize these as well? From what I've read and seen I didn't think so, but I thought I'd better ask... I have attached some pics... Thanks! |

i think it depends on what inline 6 you have, my 350 is mounted on the 6 stands. It looks like your motor is in the forward position, I thought the sixes all sat back?

(re-reply from engine board)
"I think those are an entirely different beast than the V8 and I6 engine mounts (I used to have a V6 in my truck). I'm 99.99% sure they won't work. Finding a set of V8 or I6 mounts shouldn't be too difficult. Remember that when using I6 mounts, it pushes the engine back, which some people don't like because it puts the distributor right up against the firewall."

GMC trucks could be had with a 305 or a 351 V-6 up untill 69 on the 1/2 tons. and at least 70 on the one tons. (not sure which way the 3/4 tons went as for the last year you could get them)

That "Boat Anchor" is getting ready to go into my truck. It only has 20,000 miles on it. One mans junk is another mans treasure. I take no offence to your remark.

Hey Erl,
I was wondering if you ever did anything with that engine. I'm glad somebody is getting some use out of that low mileage "boat anchor".

Slammed 67,
Was that engine originally red? Has it ever been disassembled. At some point I am planning on having higher compression pistons made for it (7.5 to 9.5). Cost about $600 and Desk Top Dyno says about 40 more horsepower. The "boat anchor" has found a good home. Erl

Yes, I believe it was originally red... not sure of the exact color. Oh, I was going through some parts in my basement and came across a fan and I believe goes with that engine. Did I give you a fan with it? If not, let me know and I can send it to you (if you want it).
