SCORE! Free 70 3/4 Longhorn with 402BB
Only thing was, I had to take all of the rust too.
70 3/4 Longhorn with 402BB, Was found in Bolinas, which is on the west coast just north of San Francisco. The engine is a 402 big block, has suffix of CKR (which shows up as a 70 Chevelle 402, 330hp, 4-sp, LS-3) Has a Turbo-400. Owner claims motor and tranny are rebuilt and have about 1000 miles on them when the rear-end went out. Has sat for a few years now. We had to use an A-frame to lift the back end, then we rolled the trailer under it and whiched the rest of the way on. I did not like that we had to load it backward, but that was the only way we could access the truck. Made it very hard to driver over 40, almost fishtailed hard twice!! Would you believe that I was able to take the tailgate, both doors, windshield, and roof off by hand with no tools!!! Going to finish removing all body panel and cut her up for scrap!! I will have some good part left over and will post them here later (stuff like all four side markers that are perfect, windshield chrome, etc...) Keeping the 402!! Sorry. Enjoy the pictures (oh and there is one of a 52 Olds 98, buddy is tearing that one up but keeping the complete rocket engine, even had the stock air cleaner). |

Good score! I do believe that is the most rust that I have ever seen on a '67-'72. Is that a factory overflow tank? I'd be interested in that if it is.

Wow......that is the rustiest truck i have ever seen! Did it follow a salt truck its entire life? Amazing to see the windshield pillar completely eaten away.
Good score though....defenitly worth it for the engine/tranny

This is what happens when you live 1/2 mile from Pacific Ocean, and 3/4 of the year you are surrounded by fog!! Everything stays wet, and salt from the ocean air has fun with anything metal!!
the old man even had a 1936 Chevy truck that he was giving away! I did not touch it, as it was two times worse than the longhorn. He also had a 65 chevelle convertable, but he would not give that up. It did not have rust, YET!!! |

Wow, that is in worse shape than the worse 73-87 I have ever seen...and those rust out even faster!
At least you get to keep the good parts you need, and seel the rest you don't need. I wish I could fine free BB powered trucks up here.

Look at the pics for a while and you notice the roof skin is off and in the bed. It must have rusted all around the perimeter and peeled off It's actually the inner skin we see on the top of the cab That's nasty! But for free dollars you can't argue with the price. There's lots of good stuff to be salvaged from that heap. As for Gee Em I say he is just in a different category. After all he is rescuing his and giving it a new life. Johns truck is in a league of it's own

Good eye stingray!
How about the object in the bed of the longhorn??? That was the driver door, peeled open from the front back. Made it easy to pull rod clips, everything else was too rusty to save... Note, even though everything is in place, nothing is attached as the bed is loose and will lift up, the front fenders are no longer attached rad support, and the cab has rust everywhere so I shold be able to fold it up nice and small. |

That does look like the dealer installed overflow bottle.
Around here the add would say "Light rust...real clean" That is very disturbing. I was about to ask about the passenger bed side...the drivers side didn't look too bad...then I see the trim rusted off the sucker, and took the sheet metal with it. Give it to to Ebfabman. From what I have seen of this mans work, he could fix that in an afternoon, change the color by morning and make it a '69 Camaro by nightfall. |

Yup, that's the rustiest 67-72 I have ever seen. The only thing that I've seen that even comes close is a '60 Impala convertible that's a in a wrecking yard here locally.
