transfer case seal Help!!

Hey All,
I need a little help, I have a 87 silvy long bed, 350, auto tranny, not sure of the transfer case number, but I noticed today where the rear drive shaft go's into the case it's leaking. The back part of the case is about 8 or 9 inchs long and cone shaped it bolts to the main transfer case with 4 bolts. Now if I drop the drive shaft and unbolt that cone shaped(for lack of the proper name) peice is thier a seal that I can replace?
Thank you in advance for any help
Mike

You have a NP208 t-case. If it is leaking where the rear driveshaft goes into the "cone" you can simply remove the driveshaft and replace the seal, there is no need to remove the cone. Refill the transfer case to the proper level with ATF.

It has been a while since I replaced a pinion seal, but I believe they are similar. The t-case is easy to replace, I usually tap them out with a screwdriver (hitting from the front of the truck toward the rear on the small lip) or pull them out with a vice grips if they are stuck and then just tap the new one in. Some people use silicon on the metal edge of the seal where it goes into the t-case.
