Vacuum Guage Setup questions - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

I got a few questions about a vacuum guage install. I know how to put it in but I am not sure on the best way to hook it up.
From the guage where do you connect the other side for vacuum? Is this a rubber or metal line?

It gets hooked up to a full vacuum port. I hook mine up to the drivers side of the edelbrock. Not sure on a Holly. Some folks hook it up to the manifold where it taps in behind the carb. Look for the lowest port (pipe) on the carb, The rear tap on most carbs are for power brakes, the bottom front is for the PCV, Both of these taps are 1/4"-3/8" and most gauges are smaller. On a Qjet and Edelbrock the lowest port on drivers side is full vacuum. The points distrib should be hooked up to this and a "T" connector will get you tapped in. At idle on this port you will have about 20" for a good stock engine. Hope it helps
