I am trying to get inside my 70 truck door to replace speakers. What is the best way to remove the door handles and window cranks without messing up the panel ect????

Get one of these. Most auto supply places have them. It's called a door handle removal tool.

A door/window handle tool works real well and they are available from most parts stores in th "Help" section.

I usually just put a hook in the end of a piece of farmers wire. Fish it in, hook the clip and "pop" it out.

do the door handle removers come in different sizes?? the one i have isnt working and it seems to be too small???

Which way are you inserting the tool? If the clips are in the stock position, then the tool should be inserted from the roller end on the window handle and on the handle end of the door handle.

Welcome from SW Washington State....

That's the ticket for removing the knobs. Been using one for about the last 20 years doing locksmith work on the side.

And they are cheap.

Somethimes those c-clips get put on backwards, so don't force it...try the other side.

Save yourself some trouble when you use that tool, kind of wiggle it side to side as you work it. Those clips have a tendacy to pop off and go flying.

Wiggle it and the clip release slowly and most of the time keeps the clip where it can be found.

The eaisest way i have found is take a shop rag. like the ones that are red at the parts stores. Slide it down behind the handel and pull it toward the clip and twist it around the handle,the clip will get stuck in the rag so you dont lose it...It workes really fast if you dont have the tool. And the rag wont scratch up a good door panel...

You can put the clips on handle first,then pop in place.Good idea with the rag there.I was going to say,watch the clip flying.

When you have no tools and need one door handle it does work!!!!!!remember this the next time to the junkyard. I can also tell you the bolt in a gm posi carrier when it breaks off in the carrier,i take an antenna off a gm car and find a hot battery and some wire. Take the antenna and hook the hot wire to it,place the tip of it in the hole where the botl is broken off. Then touch the ground wire to the carrier until it arcs the antenna to the broken bolt. then just turn the antenna and that bolt will thread itseft out. I found a posi a needed in a pull it yard and that broke on me. I got it with i little thinking...
