JODIE -- THE DOOR LOCK CONTROLS ARE THE SAME ON 70s & 80 VANS & ARE REALLY REALLY COMMON IN THE BONEYARDS. I DON'T MEAN THEY ARE CLOSE & WORK.... I MEAN THEY ARE IDENTICAL. YOU CAN PROBABLY GET ONE AT A JUNKYARD FORT ABOUT 4 OR $5. IF YOU DON'Y HAVE TIME TO GO TO THE BONEYARD SEARCHING FOR ONE, LET ME KNOW & I'LL SHIP YPI ONE FOR THE COST OF POSTAGE. JOHN

WAIT... ARE WE TALKING ABOUT ONE OF THESE???

OR ONE OF THESE??

Most door latch mechanism wear out where the center pin holds the gear roller---in John's picture, it is the center of the red area. You can sometimes do a quick spot weld to the pin and the outer piece and it's fixed! You don't even have to remove it. Just a though~~~Huck

Huck, it would be more of a hassle to try to find someone with a welder who would be willing to help.
