Excellent work! Gorgeous green truck. An uncle of mine owned one like it brand new.

If I may be so bold, I'd say the 1% is to have those Rams Horn manifolds ceramic metallic coated.

Wow, thanks a lot guys for the comments.

Yukon Jack posted a correct picture that was taken in 1987 by myself when I was 14. My grandfather owned it then and if I remember correctly, he had just let me drive it down the road and back. That was when I knew I had to have it someday. The restoration is what my grandfather wanted to do for me including the wheels and tires, he always said it would look better with some mags. He never got the chance to do anything to it. I restored this truck for him and I drive it with pride, he was a good man and my buddy. His name was Jerry E Oliver. I'll never forget him and I went on many fishing trips in this truck in rural Ga. I live in the hustle-bustle of Florida and it reminds me of the good ol' days.

The truck did not have a wood bed originally, I wanted to add that. This truck will never be used for hauling or towing. I have put about 1000 miles on it in the last few weeks. Just cruisin'.

When you get close there are plenty of paint flaws and modifications to aftermarket parts to see. But it looks a lot better than a lot of trucks I've seen at shows.

There will always be 1% that is not right, for now it's missing tailgate trim, the radio sounds like crap, passenger seat belt, and a lot of small cosmetic items.

But I like and so would've my grandfather.

Hey Seacrow... I am very impressed!!! You basically produced to almost 90% the vision I have for my 72 LWB GMC is to become... to bad I am just beginning and will have a few years till I reach your achievement... But being a seacrow you probably have heavy machinist skills and a hobby shop with access to all the tools you need without having to buy them first... man I remember those days!!!

Sooner, I wanted to post pics of the interior for you in the parts board. The green floomat was a black one, it has been painted with Bulldog and plastic paint that I had color matched. The bezel was orignially black also, I painted it the same way, I even masked off the "lights" and "wiper-washer" script. The interior is restored to exactly as it would be brand new. I even repainted the orginal horn button to exact.

Gary Lee, I am actually not that talented, I am just determined. The only work I did was most of the interior cosmetics and installation, I installed the engine and tranny and did most of the engine tin work restoration, and I put all of the chrome and emblems on. OH and I also rebuilt and restored the steering column.

BTW guys, I want to give Ed at Mother truckers a huge plug. He did the wood bed, his crew painted the truck and he did a lot of the reassembly. Also, every part you see that is new except for the wheels was bought through Ed.

And for those of you that really want to know, this restoration cost me about $23000. I could have done it cheaper but some work had to be done twice (not the work that Ed did). IN the big scheme of things, $23K is not too bad for what I did. This was a frame off restoration, every nut and bolt is new.

I'll spend the next year ironing out all of the bugs but at least I can drive it anywhere now.
