Busy Weekend, What did you do?
What a busy weekend this one was! Started out Friday early afternoon heading for Oklahoma from south Mississippi. One of my good friend's and I went to pick up the 1971 Chevy Suburban (2wd) he just bought! ROAD TRIP!! We got in the hotel around midnight. Loaded up the 'burb Saturday morning and by 9am we were back on the road. Made it back just in time to unload the new toy in the dark Saturday evening! Shined her up and took her for quick spin! Nice find. Nice addition to his collection. He also owns a 1970 Chevy short step and he just joined the board about a week ago! Welcome to the club ebbhightower!

Quick road trip to Kansas. Met up with hilljob26 at cadiac's place. Had a nice visit. Also dropped by XXL's place. Saw a lot of grass fires between Wichita and Tulsa.

Dd some more body work on the 70. Found a lot more bondo in the drivers fender than what was orginally thought to be there. I guess we'll see what it takes for cut and paste on wether I replace it or not.

Went to board member Bernie's on Saturday and picked up a few parts for really good price!! Went to my oldest son's for a little while and watched as he started assembly of his sb 400 (looked like Santa had been there, boxes and new parts all over). Sunday I finished painting and put the hood back on the tractor and burnt a brush pile in the yard...which started a hollow tree on fire..which is still smoking yet this morning and my wife keeps saying '' I told you not to burn that pile''

Got my kick panel vents cleaned up and painted. Now can reassemble and install them. Also started cleaning up the parking break assembly. Will paint it prior to install also. Got the transmission and t/case holes cut in the carpet and got one of the shifter boot retainers cleaned up and painted. Other one is already painted. Started to figure out where to put the power steering cooler. Looks like directly under the radiator support will work well.
Fired up the truck and took it to 3,000 rpm a couple times - I just love the headache open headers give me! Looked at the Blazer too - it looks so sad sitting on jack stands awaiting it's turn - it really needs to be driven!!

Got rid of all the coolent leaks and drove it around yesterday for a little while. Got the headers redone at Airborne Coatings and a new performer intake. The best I can tell is the hesitation is gone that I was having with the rpm airgap. Need to check timing and adjust carb now. Got a lot of stuff to do in the next 3 weeks.

I did my first ever bed swap =)
Took off the old bed, scraped off all the large chunks of dirt, $10.00 at the local car wash spraying it off. Looked pretty decent for a daily driver after putting a few coats of that rust prohibitive paint type stuff on it. What else... Fixed a bunch of chopped up and jury rigged wiring and put on a new rear bumper. Started stripping out the interior for cleaning and such. And the best part, got a nice sunburn as a reminder that I didnt spend my entire weekend inside on the computer!! |

Installed Vintage Air under dash unit in cab, wired it and plumbed it (in-cab portion only); ran speaker wires for all six speakers; wired up radio/CD pigtail; painted door panels, kick panels, A-pillar panels; painted fuel injection runners, throttle body, manifold and other miscellaneous parts. Helped a buddy wire and install outdoor low voltage lights in his back yard; about 200' of wiring. I had to come back to my desk job today so I could rest.

Pulled the clip I am going to sell off of the 69 short frame.
Sat the 67 clip on it to get it out of harms way. Pulled the cab I am using off of the parts truck. Putting a 67 small rear window on along with the short fleet bed I traded my step side for. Could have gotten more done but I worked Saturday and only worked on the truck(s) for about 5 hours on Sunday.

Weeded the yard. Tried to find time to work on the truck - wanted to remove the seat and fix the springs, then rewire the new HEI ignition and add a tach, oil and temp gauge (3-way cluster) but it didn't happen.
Stranded in Virginia for a wedding friday thru sunday this coming weekend, so no work on the truck then either. Might be installing power steering the following weekend if all goes well

I drove the Chevelle over to Goodguys, Del Mar and back. Friday, my wife bought me a body rotiserie so we can get started on the 47. A far cry from the day my buddy and I unloaded the 47 by the shop and she told him to get that pile of crap out of her yard! She also found the seats she wants in it from a 2002 Cadillac, with heat/cool(?), 4 lumbar, and massage(?).........hey, at least she's getting excited about the car........look what happened when she got interested in the old Studebaker!

watched basketball... will watch again tonight.
I drove my truck to watch basketball, does that count? I do need to get a new power steering pump. Anyone need practice changing one? I've been too lazy to do it
