I bought his smaller one.. Still haven't put it in by the way Jim... But it's getting closer, Fianlly got the bugs in the engine worked out... "So Much for a Brand new Hi-Po Distributor cap..".

Anyway, getting off track, SORRY..

All of that info is what depends on how your truck/Car will launch.. Too much stall, and It won't be worth crap to drive, Too little and it won't be what you need coming off the line.. Torque is a Major deciding factor... One of the things I try to remember is @ what RPM going down the road are you doing.. If you're running a "KNOWN" 3200 stall convertor and have 308 gears....and you're doing 1800 RPM at Highway speed.. it's going to do nothing but slip and over heat going down the road..

The best thing you can do is call one of the Stall Convertor manufacturers and give all of the info as stated by Big Jim to them, they'll come back with a recommendation..

But for most performance street applications, 283 to 350 putting out under 350 horses in our heavy trucks 2400 to 3200 stall will suffice.

When I was a younger Kid, I used Vega convertors for the Street.. about 2400 to 2800 stall, and I never blew one.... But I never raced with them either, no Slicks, no outragious hooking up, ETC. And they were $15.00 to $20.00 a piece at the local Wrecking yards..
