Trying to figure this out andy help would be great.

The bottom corner of the door seems to sit inside more. On the other side the door corner would stick in but once I put in the body bushings it was straight. I spend a good time making sure all the body mounts where in right and bolted down. So any info, tips, and what not would be great.

Also I understand you can shim the body mounts to get moving but does anyone know the what body mount does what effect to the door.

To Have The Top On To Get The Doors To Fit / Line-up Well

not really sure on how to fix it, but I can tell you that my truck is the same.

I'm about to go through this myself. I think what you have to do is align the doors to the main tub, preferably with the top on, at the rear door line. Then you use spacers on the front fenders to line them up to the doors. The reason I believe this is because the firewall through the tub is an integral unit, AND the front clip is removable from the unit, AND I have a spacer/ washer kit from GM for the front clip. Don't hold this as the gospel from an expert. It just seemed to be the easiest way to do it after I looked long and hard. Let me know what you think.

Alex it looks like you have a latch/striker problem not a body shim problem. The shimming of the body will move the door gaps around (ie front ,back,bottom) If you close the door and have the door go too far into the body the latch set-up would be where I would start.... Btw no weather strip could also cause the door to travel too far inward. Good luck and keep us posted..

DOH!!! Sorry guys. I thought I was looking toward the front fender. I think I agree with Frenchblue on this one. Where the hell is the totally embarassed icon!?

Body shims will change the door gap when looking straight on at the door. What you need to do is either adjust your strike or adjust the hinge on the door side.

Thanks everyone for there input. I messed with both the striker and the hinges today and it fixed it a bit. The bottom still sticks in but not as bad and is like a hair off from being straight with the bed panel. The top section of the door is dead on.

Are you allowed to shim the bottom part of the fender there it bolts too the lower door pillar section?

I still think the top makes a hugh difference in the doors and body especially if its a double wall. I can take the top off my blazer and the doors and body go everywhere. I need to replace my rocker boxes and mounts. But the point is as badly as they are worn when the top goes back on the body lines go back to perfect and the doors work like butter.

Stick a block of wood between the door and the rocker panel and push on it a bit to get the twist out of the door. That will help out a little bit more. You will probably need to get someone to help you as this old steel is sturdy. Not like the new cars and trucks. Every once in a while we will get a new door and it does that too us. That is how we adjust them to get the twist out.

That will help out a little bit more. You will probably need to get someone to help you as this old steel is sturdy. Not like the new cars and trucks. Every once in a while we will get a new door and it does that too us. That is how we adjust them to get the twist out.
