OK......3/4 ton pulled the 15,000 pounds with ease
Someof you already knew that a friend of mine was planning a trip over the rockies withhis c-20 pickup. He did change out the 350 Olds engine(I made him....I't mine) for the 455 and beefed up his rear springs. He said there wasn't too much lag. He mention that the 3/4 rear ends back then where able to towe more than the ones built today. And are on par with the 1 ton rear ends. Can anyone else confirm his reasoning? Because I'm having trouble believeing him with the towing of this monster 5th wheel?

the eaton/corp rears...HO52 and HO72 (3/4 and one ton respectivly) are virtual twins. The 72 does have bigger bearings if memory serves, and the center section has provisions for pinion adjustment, bit otherwise, they are one and the same.

I'll bet if he's got 4.11's out back it had a helluva lot of torque with that 455 up front! Do you know what size tires he's running on the rear?
