chroming not cheap

remeber even its just two rings they still got to clean them and prep before chroming so there going to charge a min. price so if you got any thing else i would get it done now too make one trip and save money good luck

CHROME AIN'T CHEAP !!!
done well it's a labor ivtensive process, add to that the strangulation by the feds(EPA) and that adds up to $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

many items available repoped are just so much cheaper to replace that it makes no sence to try and save or redo the originals

My friend does chroming and he's always said that if you can buy it aftermarket it will always be cheaper. The base metal has to be a smooth as the finished product which equals hours with a buffer.

Went thru this about 2 years ago. I called a guy in sac. that ran a route in the foothills for the body shops. I had about 4-5 items. Got an estimate and said good to go. About 5-6 weeks go by and I try to call him, took almost 2 weeks for him to call me back (after me calling about every 2 days). They lost my parts. Turns out they sublet down in L.A. Short of the story is they finally found my parts after a couple of more months. Then he wants to charge full pop. We exchanged several not so nice words. I finally got my parts --6 months later for about 1/2 price. Sooooo yeah, I would like to know somebody that had a good reputation also. I need the front of a GMC done---grill and all.

You might start by calling some custom motorcycle shops in your area. I had some parts plated by a bike place and the quality was exceptional! However, they usually cannot do large pieces like bumpers. I know you're in Calif. but, if you do a "Google-Search" for Pauls Chrome, they have a VERY informative website that describes the process that they use, in detail. They also will give you an estimate prior to plating any pieces. Of course, you have to ship the pieces to them. I have not used them, yet. I am going to send them my dissassembled vent-window frames for an estimate this summer.

Good Luck!
