Just noticed something and I either can't remember or never knew...

Today I was driving home from a friends house in the 69' and was making a left turn when I notice in the shift indicator there was a orange blinking light but it only works when I use the left turn signal... What is this and do I need it??

Is the fiber optic plugged into the wrong light socket?

don't know, I just took the gauge cluster out and cleaned it all up and connected it back the way it was.

Is it really that important I mean it does not look like it is doing a whole lot, it only works on left turns and it does not really bother me, but I'll check it again, but is it a real important thing what does it do??

Sounds like you have the shift indicator fiber optic plugged into the left blinker light socket on the back of the gauge panel. Just swap it with a gauge panel light that is not a blinker light. The shift indicator light should always be on when your headlights are on. It helps you see what gear you are in when it is dark.

The fiber optic socket should be next to speedo on the right.

Well I can fix it today and hope it works, but I can't check it because my son left the ignition on over night and this morning I went to start it up and I see the ignition in the on position so I try to start it and nothing.... Well long story short the boy's grounded from even looking at the truck, and I got the battery charging now. So that should take a while, well when it is charged up I'll fidle with the dash, and I'll get back to you.
