Drove the longhorn today - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

I know I shouldn't...but I did. (ask TJ...he's heard the sucker knockin)
I was plannin on getting some stuff from *HER* place, and plus I needed to pull my dad's boat forward so i could wash the mold and crap off of it for father's day.
Well, I did get the boat part done, but then when i went to run some errands, she didn't want to. I discovered my new aftermarket temp guage is dead. It was showing signs of overheating, which i noticed at about the time I noticed it wasn't rolling forward with my foot off the brakes and in gear. About 1/2 block later, the sucker wouldn't move onless I had it at 1/2 throttle. (Which makes LOTS of knocking noises)
D@mn thing made me walk.

Once it sat for a couple hrs and cooled down, the brakes were released. I think I have the pushrod going to the master cylinder just a tad too long. (been there...done that)
Got pics of the truck with the boat....and of the boat...it was pretty nasty. It's sat in the back yard for almost 4 years pretty much untouched...and another 1 1/2 years in a parking lot before that. He's thinking of putting it in the water this summer since hang gliding isn't looking too comefortable. (he had a gliding accident last fall for those who don't remember or are too new to know...fell 40 feet and landed on his face when his glider didn't work as planned)
Anyways....enough babbling from me...pic time.
The one of the moldy boat was the last min thought of a before pic. This was in the back area...the whole boat was like this when I started. a bottle of Spray 9 cleaner (awsome stuff by the way) and a couple hrs with a hose and truck washing brush, and iot was all white again.

Pics look good Andy. Sorry to hear about your continuing truck problems. Is that your pop inspecting the boat in the last pic?

He's actually scrubbing a spot in there.
As for the truck trouble....The odometer only reads 105 right now...I still ain't sorted out the truck due to the knocking nature of this engine. I'll be getting a 500 for it probably this week...and after getting my sister's car assembled, I'll slap the 500 in there and then I'll sort out the longhorn. It'll all be good.

actually paul, there is a VW something or another in the back that I have to reasemble for my sister. The heater core went out quite a while ago and I been sittin on my rear NOT doing anything about it. This will give me some motivation to go to work and see a 500 sittin on the stand next to my box.

I nevergot the whole naughty zoot thing untill yesterday. (not a fan of there humor) Now i can definatly apreciate it though.
I try to do things that are practicle...esp for him. He is the type that will make you feel like crap without even knowing it if you handed him a cheesey gift.

the naughty zoot is great! being a monty python fan, i love it! not to mention the holy grail is one of my fav movies..

I smell a work party! It would be fun to do something like that to help a fellow board member out! I am collecting sheet metal for my Longhorn and driving it on occasion with the loaner engine. It has some choke issues but rusn great most of the time. I sure like to exercise that posi when I am in the pasture or gravel driveway...LOL!

Paul, I would be glad to have you over...however, for an engine swap party...I dunno....
A few reasons,
1. It won't be a simple pluck and stab. I need to take lots of pics and document it, plus, I might be doing a cross member swap while the engine is out so as to add disc brakes. (kinda sucks that I just dropped 500 bucks in brakes on it though huh?)
2. I'll be doing it at the shop, and the boss man is very funny about havin ppl hangin out there.
3. Becouse of some of his funny rules, I'll be pulling one or even two all nighters to do this job.
4. Being that I am crashing at my parrents house and sleeping on a friggen futon in the computer room...I have no way of putting you up and would feel like crap if I told you to go get a Hotel room.
5. I'm kinda funny on engine swaps...and honestly, kinda work better alone. (Even have a way of doing the hood removal/instalation by myself with no damage done)

I have to say however....Thanks for the offer....really, but I'll have to pass on it.
