275/60/15 tires on 1986 c-10
First of all this is my first post on this site. I must say from some of the things I have read I can see this is a great site.
I have a 1986 silverado, 2wd pickup. It currently has 255/70/15 on it with the stock 8" ralleys. I would like to know if any one has a picture of a truck like my body style with 275/60/15's on it. I was thinking of going with them but I was worried they may look a little short on a non-lowered truck. I have seen some on a lowered truck but never on one not lowered. If any one has a picture or just an opinion of how they would look I would like to hear it. Truck mods, 350 sportsman II heads (2.02 intake valves, 64cc chambers) comp 270h cam edlbrock intake holley 600 VS Rebuilt Th350 with shift kit and a 2400 stall converter Stock rearend with a 3.73 gear and powertrax posi unit Best 1/4 time 14.70@91.23 MPH Soon to be a 383 stroker in a couple of months!! (Can't wait) Thanks, Jeremy |

This is what my 85 looked like when I first got it. 275/60/15's with rally wheels sporting the spinners on the centercaps. I have done a 3/5 drop since then and the tires fill the wheel wells very nice, and without clearance problems.

Both tire sizes you mentioned are almost exactly the same height. Both look really good on a stock height truck, and are usually the sizes installed.

If I could jump in here, I've got another question I would like to ask. I've also got the P275 60R 15 tires on my '86. When I got the truck it came with what looks like 10 inch wide aluminum wheels on it. Wouldn't you think that 10" is too wide for this size tire? I can't tell for sure, but it looks like the tires are cupped in the middle because the wheel is so wide (forcing the sidewall out). I'm thinking of getting rid of these rims and buying something a little narrower, maybe around 8 inches. What would be the correct wheel width for these tires? Thanks.

8 inch wheels are a good fit for a 275/60.

The recommended rim width for 275's is 9"-10", but 8's are fine.

The tire manufacturers website should give some good info on things like what size rim it should go on, revolutions per mile... Good things like that
Check this link out for some info like that. Its a PDF file. http://www.bfgoodrichtires.com/asset...ce_ta_kdws.pdf |
