Kurt, thanks for the pic's. That is what I needed to see. Apparently the Blazer I bought had a NOS quarter that was mounted without a front pillar. When it was set up, it was too far forward and was "wrapped" around the front pillar but was still too far forward so it would bind with the door. Now I have to further modify the quarter, re-set the door and somehow adjust the firewall-windshield frame. All of this will require me to install a correct single wall top as that is the only thing left that will give me a clue as to a correct alignment!! Oui vey!!

The outter 'skin' of the quarter is wrapped around the pillar by about 1/2 inch or so. I'll take a couple pics and post them... Last edited by vtblazer; 07-06-2005 at 07:59 PM. |

Yea, that's the way the drivers side looks and the way my blue blazer looks. This white one ----had the outer skin about 3/8ths of an inch too far forward so that the "wrap" was not at a right angle "_]" but more of a 45degree angle backwards "_\" and the end result is that the skin stuck too far forward to the point of binding when you mounted a door--tried two different ones. The pillar was and is verticle so the only option was to trim some of the quarter skin to it would right angle to the pillar. Now to get creative with cutting and welding. Next trick will be to align the firewall and windshield frame so that they are where they belong---relative to a hardtop.
Keep in mind, all of this including some front floor patching---yet a perfect rear floor and the best rocker-torsion boxes I've ever seen! |
