ok on tuesday morning i went to go to work and my truck wouldnt start.the battery was 2 years old so i went and got a new one.still wont start.go have the alternator tested.alternator good.had it tested b/c it came with the truck i parted out to get this one running so i wasnt sure of its condition.pull starter out today-had it tested which it tested good and did the screwdriver across the two terminals trick and the starter still engaged and seemed to be working properly.im now thinking it was the solenoid or either the igniton coil or ignition module.im at my wits end here.so WTF is wrong with my truck.

did u try putting a remote starter on it? possible loose wire, ignition switch, fuseable link etc?

mpre than likely sounds like a inline fuse trace the wirse from the battery to the firewall and there should be a box there with wires coming from it that has inline fuses in them just use a wire tester to check them this is what happened to my 86 blazer drove me crazy for a week

sometimes stater wires melt on headers and short themselves to the ground? this happened to me once.

Is it even cranking? If it is then it sounds like either a fuseable link between the starter solenoid and the HEI.

can you run electronics, but not start. you should charge the battery in that case. when you drive short distances you use so much voltage and you end up with not enough cranking volts, but it'll play the radio fine. i have a battery charger and every now and then i charge mine for a couple hours. after that, starts right up.

if its not doing anything when you turn the key, i would try putting it in N, as the park/neutral safety switch could be out.. if that doesnt work, it could also be your ignition switch/module (on top of the column that is operated by a rod when the key is turned).

Mine did the same thing ..... the morning I went to get my new tires mounted

... the place closed @ noon on Sat. so I had to bust a$$ to figure it out, did all you mentioned by 10:00 the resorted the the ignition module, threw it in & that did it. Made it to the tire place with 10 min. to spare
