Spring twisting

Anyone have any suggestions as to why a rear spring would want to twist towards the frame of my 71 4x4. It has a five spring pack with overload helpers on it. Only the drivers side is twisting. Cont figure out why. I'll try to get a pick if it ever quits raining. Any and all ideas appreciated.

If the u-bolts are tight and it only twists on one side, the spring pack that twists probably has a broken center bolt. As torque is applied, the break would allow the leaves to slip out of position and even to flex up from the spring perch between the u-bolts. But check for u-bolt tightness first. Loose u-bolts would allow the entire pack to twist as one. Also, loose u-bolts can allow torque to unduly stress center bolts, causing them to snap.

Edit: More thoughts. Check if the leaf clamps are sound. Look for a broken leaf still held in place by the u-bolts and leaf clamps.
