Boy did I just learn a lesson. Last week I put hooker competion headers, 2 1/2 pipes, excelorator mufflers and dumped them in from of the rear axle on my 72 350 truck expecting a world of changes. Boy was I disappointed in them. I about puked. The mufflers were very tinny sounding and the left side sounded like one big exhaust leak. My dad actually called me a stupid#ss. I'm 40, I thought we were through with that. Anyway. I took it back and was going to change mufflers, lengthen the exhaust and hope it got better but before we did, we put an H pipe between in to see how that worked. Needless to say, my world is much happier now. The power is 10 times better, the exhaust leak sound on the left side is gone and the mufflers are alittle (just right) quieter.
Moral of the story: Never ever put exhaust on without an H or X pipe!

heck, I JUST heard that from mine....for over heating the town car...but then again, I just over heated his caravan 100 miles from home yesterday.

We're running out of cars to drive.

I've been liking the larger single exaust systems on my trucks lately. Less stuff under the truck and sounds nice.

Yeah, I used to post on some exhaust search threads that I wish someone made a mandrel-bent single exhaust system for our trucks. No such animal....so far.

Not really, however I do use the flowmaster connector pipe and a 40 series muffler. I have a local exhaust man that is an artist with a tubing bender, does awesome work. Clean and tight. Gonna have my 69 GMC done in about 6-7 weeks. 400 sb. So it will have 2-1/4 pipes to the 'Y' connector then out the back with 3''

My dad doesnt call me names, but when I fu@k something up I get that look that can piss you off in no time flat. I'm 35 and we work on projects together and he has helped me learn alot over the years and I appreciate his experience. The "look" I could do without however!

That helped me learn to never complain, which led to my high pain tolerance. Now every time I get hurt I just think well don’t do that again, it hurts.

thanks 4x, I thought I'd seen a good one a while back.

I've yet to buy one of these old trucks that didn't need serious exhaust work, good thing to know how to do.
