Which posi/limit slip unit??

Which one is better and why......and what should I look for?? This would go in my 67 K10 rear (do the front later) with stock 3.73 gears. It only sees light 4wd usage, too much $$$ to tear it up. I see all kinds of units of different sizes, but don't know what fits.

Eaton for a Posi. because they are the best. If you can live with the clicking, many people have been happy with Powertrax lockers. Call Randy's Ring and Pinion and they can help you.

I'm very happy with my Eaton posi. Installation was pretty easy and it works great.

Eaton posi.....Do I look for one for a 10 bolt axle, or a inch size?? Does it require special tools or knowledge to do yourself? Thanks, Greg

goto http://randysringandpinion.com/ get the 800 number and call them on Monday. Tell them what you have, what you think you want and then let them give you the info to help you make a decision. They were very helpful when I called for info and I didn't even buy anything. Because they were so helpful, I made my purchase through them once I decided what I wanted.

I agree with Eaton mentioned above. I know a couple people that have them and they really like them. I have a Powertrax in my 12 bolt. Will NOT buy another and when $$ permit it will be replaced. I kinda like the clicking, what I don't like is I chewed one up in under 5k miles. They replaced it at no cost. But still don't like how it acts. I've had it unlock completely and freewheel. Thankfully didn't blow up the engine when it unlocked, and as the engine was winding down it hit REAL hard when it locked back together. Just my $.02 but I won't buy another for the street. Maybe for your front since it will only be used offroad would be OK.

You should have a 12 bolt rear axle, and a dana 44 front. The thing about the powertrax is it's a drop in locker and uses the existing carrier. The eaton will require pulling the carrier and swapping it with the eaton.

1986 K30, 350/400/205 dana 60 and 14 bolt. I kept the drivetrain. Body/bad and chassis are gone.
1981 K30, 350/465/205 dana 60 and dually 14 bolt. Has a G80, and a flat bed. Going to replace the flat bed.

1985 K20, 350/400/208 10 bolt and SF 14 bolt. I wonder where I can find some 1 tons. Hmmmmm
