Help me get my DASH out - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

I have a 72 GMC suburban. From what I can tell the dash is held in by three bolts on either side and a few under the steering column. With those out I can wiggle the bottom of the dash but that's it. Are there bolts holding in the top near the windshield or is the windshield gasket hold it in?

Any tricks/advise y’all can provide would be much appreciated!!

Well you will need to drill all of the spot welds along the windshield pinch weld. The dash is part of the lip that rubber window gasket sets onto.

Dont worry I tried the same thing. Just start pulling all the little parts like the cluster glove box door etc. That's as good as you will get.

you can cut the perforated part under the dashpad if you want to replace a dash then just weld them up when you put a new one in// alot easier than drillin the spotwelds

Oh well, scratch that idea!! It's a driver that I'm just trying to correct the PO's horrible wiring and thought it would be easier with the dash out. Thanks for help!!

You can pull the entire harness pretty easy just start un plugging.
