Greetings Ya'll..... Allow me to introduce myself, Tony, 33, Indiana. I am now the proud owner of a '65 Chevy shortbed stepside. It needs some work of course but all in all not a bad buy. I bought some parts off a '71 Suburban and I am just wondering if these parts will indeed work or if I just wasted my money, parts list is front cross-member for the 5 lug and disc brakes and the power brake booster, master cylinder, and proportioning valve, the steering column for automatic tranny conversion, and the rear end also for the 5 lug. I also have found a fleetside bed in near perfect condition I will be buying soon because I like the look of the fleetside better then the stepside on this year of truck. But I need to tell you of my first love, it's a '72 Nova I bought in 1989 when I was 17, it's my first car and over the years I have neglected it and now I am trying to restore it, so I won't be doing alot of work to the truck until I get the Nova done (and also it is in my brother's garage and I think he is getting impatient with me for having it there since December and not even half way done with it). So there is my story, if any of you seasoned restorers can leave me feedback on my questions I really appreciate it, who knows maybe if any of you leave close enough to me maybe sometime we can meet up and help each other out on our projects. Sounds like you know what your doing. Just be sure you got everything from the front of the Burb hub-to-hub, not just the crossmember (unless you plan to use aftermarket stuff). I'd also snag all the power steering parts and make or buy a bracket for it. Good luck and post pics!

you will need the steering from the 71 too.the tierod ends are different.use the 71 idler arm and drill new holes for it.make a template from the 71 frame to position it.if you use the power steering box make sure the steering will turn lock to lock before you have it alined.i had to adjust my tierod ends.
