I don't know how it would be for gas mileage but I'm preety sure it wouldn't be good on any rubber or neoprene parts in your fuel system

Use the search feature at the top of the forum.

I did and it brought up no results, like the thread was gone. Just searched now for 'acetone' and all it brought up was this thread.

Woah! That's really weird. I was thinking about that post recently. I wonder if it got deleted because people started talking smack or something?

Re: Wheres the thread about the acetone for better MPG?

Josh has to rebuild the search tables. It's just one of those things with vBulletin. Doing this is going to bring the forum to its knees for a few minutes though, which is probably why he hasn't done it

Is acetone one of those ingredients that increases octane?

I wouldn't do it, but I have heard of drizzling ATF(auto tranny fluid) in the carb while the engine is running to burn the carbon off the valves......makes a LOT of smoke and it lasts for awhile too!

I don't know about ATF, but I've used water from a spray bottle to quench the carbon deposits. The 6-235 in my dad's '64 used to diesel even with a low idle and doing the water thing fixed it. It seemed to run better afterward too. Just don't hose it too much...
