heh that answer all depends on the person, I personally like 69s because I mean comon when someone asks you what year is that I like the way "its a 69" rolls off my toung. I also like the look of a 69.

Thats a personnal pref around here. I love the 72 Swb trucks but also like the lines of the 81-87 also. There is a BIG mix on this board. Mostly 67-72 folks though.

I know its gonna get personal... I am quite new to this board, although I have had an affinity for these yrs' models... 67-72 shortbeds, specifically... but which yrs seem to dress up the nicest and draw the looks at the truck shows? btw... what is it about the 69 that sets it apart of the others, 68-72?

I prefer the 67-72's but the 73-87's look really good if they are well taken care of. In my opinion the 73-87's are the ugliest trucks when they aren't taken care of but some of the best looking with a good paint job and a good wax. I would say pick which ever you find the most desirable.

Hmmm, how bout' a big block 72' Cheyenne Super SWB with absolutely every luxury option they offered except for bed rails Now that would rate a 10 of just about all the Chevy pick ups IMO-Just my .02

Common, the hood on the 67's and 68's are the best of all of em If it is a stepside, has to be a 67(big window) or 68 slammed on 20's. If it is a fleet, has to be a 71-72 shortbed with the original trim slammed on 20's. Those are just my preferences. I like both equally as well.
The differences......the grilles mostly. Also the front of the hood on the 69-72 is taller and more square than the 67 and 68's. 67's did not have marker lights and the rear windows were usually smaller, altho there is an option that I think is called a custom cab that has a large rear window. I think the trim changed with the grills, but I am not sure about that one. In any case, a truck with a pretty stock body (maybe get rid of that filler neck on the side and the drip rail), down on the ground with big shiny wheels is my fav. Got to have at least 450 horses under the hood too Oh yeah, before I forget, NO big blocks either No need with a 472 small block possible, those things are AWESOME! The 71 and 72's are desirable as they have what I feel is an important feature..... front disc brakes....

I fyour asking about what would gbring hte most at Barrett-Jackson.. then i would have to say a 70-72 (yes i included 70 in there too cuz of the strike and rarity) SWB CST/Cheyenne super, black red or Hawaiian Blue, all loaded up in either a bigblock 2wd, or 350 4wd... that would be my guess, but i f i remember the panel 4x4's are about the rarest of all.. JMO...

Can't forget the 2 wheel drive blazers, which seem to be a hot item. Any cutom/restorod is going to go for more at the big auctions. You can customize any year 67-72 and make them look cool, that red 69 shortfleet that Mike Nutt pics is coooool! Gotta luv hidden headlights/full width grill, how can I do that?

as mentioned, the 71-72 swb trucks seem to fetch the highe$t attention, but with respect to pure truck lines....I like 69-72 (blockier nose) style.......the debate will rage with respect to what is truely worth more money....for the most part what I like most....seems to be worth the least....so here is a list of things to stay away from,
manual transmissions...especially on the column anything with less than 8 cylinders heavy duty rigs (3/4ton and up) and 4x4's....well that depends more on where you are located.....but the current trend seems to be more toward 2wd cruisers...rather than 4wd boggers.....by the way, this just seems to be my current observations....and I am fine with that....it makes it easier for me to find what I am looking for at a decent price :smile: fortunately....or unfortunately if you are selling, these trucks seem to be in a down swing in price....which means you can still have a classic in good shape for less than the cost of a 10 year old 100k mile honda! |

heres a gay what if.... lets say I pick up a 71 without a/c, ps, pb etc or its a stepside, and I decide to put a regular shortbed on it and add the extras, similar to original options... how do the ' restoration buyers' look at these mods? I agree with yall about the 70-72's... I am lookin for a 72 cheyenne super sb... anyone have one cheap I can pick up?

someone correct me if I am wrong....but the market for these trucks being what it is.....if its not original numbers matching, you aren't going to be making money off of this truck. If making money is what you are after, I would recommend buying a good cond. body with no engine and trans.....swap in a fuel injected 350 and NV4500 with O/D and hook up a/c.....people are more apt to pay more money for a classic thats good on gas right now over a built up 'optioned' swb.....but thats my $0.02

I think you've got to have two , a 68 cst and a 72 cheyenne super . That way you've got it covered , or as someone already said an optioned out 72 with the 68 nose , i just like that slant nose hood . Just my .02 cents. See ya .......................... Doug. |

68 has the best looking front end for sure. As far as making money off them you can never get what you got in them but I have always been able to sell them quick and for what I thought they were worth.
You could spend 30,000 on a new truck and in 5 years it will be worth 10,000 or spend 10,000 on a really nice custom head turner and in 5 years sell it for 10,000.

You might as well ask what's your favorite color or who the hottest woman in the world is. I've never really considered these trucks as collectables, but as classics. To me, the value or desirablity depends on who is buying the truck and how well the work was performed, (doesn't really mattered if it was modified or restored). Basically, if you find a truck you like buy it, and pay whatever you feel is fair. my 2 cents
