Did I break my new temp gauge

I cant believe it I was taking my new mechanical temp gauge out of the package and the steel line went across the battery terminals It only burned the outside part that kind of looks like a spring. The center copper looking line is still intact.

Did I just kill my line??? Can I fix it?

Thanks..Paul.

Should be OK the outside spring is to keep the capillary tube from being damaged or laying against something hot and giving you a false reading.

Re: Did I break my new temp gauge

Before going through the trouble of installing it and finding out its bad you could always do a quick test in a pot of hot water to make sure it works.
