headers

anyone run thorley headers? Looking at running them on my 68 c10. The headers I have now are dented in to clear the frame on the passenger side. I dont want to have to do this to my new headers. So If you are running them pics would be good or just let me know how the clearence is. Also how does the finish hold up?

Thanks

Re: headers

DOUG THORLY TRI-Y HEADERS ARE MY ABSOLUTE FAVORITES. THEY'RE WELL MADE & FIT GREAT. MY SECOND CHOICE IS HOOKER SUPER COMP.s , BUT I THINK YOU WILL LIKE THORLY HEADERS. THE ONLY BAD THING I CAN SAY ABOUT THEM IS THEY ARE KINDA SPENDY. JOHN

Re: headers

Nope... Sorry... But No Fitment Issues & They Didn't Hang Too Low. I Put Them On A 71 With A Sbc. I Surely Wouldn't Hesitate To Buy A Set For Any Of My Projects. Matter Of Fact.. Doug Thorly Or Hooker Super Comps Are The Only Headers I Would Consider. John

Re: headers

I have HEDMAN "ELITE" HEADERS, perfect fit, finish, and a good price

Plus mine are the new style, they are almost 6" shorter than long ones

Re: headers

Are those elites the ones with the ball socket flanges? I dont really want to have to weld on new reducers.

Re: headers

The Hedman elites that I looked at for my 70 did have the ball flanges.

Could anyone comment if the tri-y's really help low end torque and especially gas mileage. Seems to me they would act more like a short header than a long.

Yes they are, and I know this doesn't help you, but the leak ratio on ball
vs. flange is 10-1, 10 flange headers leaking for every one ball flange

Hmmmm, good question, I know I'm running 2.5" exhaust, so either
2.5 or 3, I'll have to go out and measure them after awhile for you

Re: headers

Re: headers

Some one told me the thorley headers would blue? Since they are made of nickel and chrome. Can anyone comment on this? Will be used on a daily driver.
