Question VIN # question

The VIN on my 67 C-10 is CS147Z136860. I have the Chev truck ID number book but I noticed several errors so I don't trust it. The "C" = conventional, the "S" = L6 (my book says V-6), the "1" = 3600-5600, the 4 = ??, the "Z" = Fremont and the rest is the sequence #. OK, what does the "4" mean?? My book says it should be 07, 09, 10, or 14. What gives.

Also under "14" it is stamped "DD", does this mean "Daily Driver"?

4 means cab and bed.

Re: VIN # question

the 4 means it came from the factory with a cab and a stepside box. If it were a 34 it would be a cab and a fleetside box.

Re: VIN # question

Crazy, that is not correct.
04 is a stepside, 34 is a fleet side, and NEITHER of those would be found in the VIN... that is in the model number.
Look on the link I posted.

I know many places say what you are saying... but they are wrong. Go look at any vin, you'll never find an 04 or 34 in there...onless it is a one ton with a bed...then it'd say 34, but the 3 would mean one ton.

Re: VIN # question

OK, that makes sense, my book is wrong. What about the "DD"?

Re: VIN # question

DD = delivery date... sometimes they were stamped in the earlier years.

Re: VIN # question

It's actually a common mistake with the bad info that is out there.
That was also one of my first questions when i came here, LMC had that info like that and I came here asking why Longhorn #1 had a VIN for a step side.
