Whats the best way to diagnose which belt is squealing? I got one that is driving me nuts. They all look good. Not too loose or too tight.

did you check the underside and see if its glazed or anything?

Usually it is not that hard, just rev the motor at the carb and it should become obvious. If it is doing it all of the time, then get a bar of soap, the small bars from a hotel works best. As you look for the noise stick the bar up against the rotating belt and coat the inside, the squeal will go away or change tune. If you are one that has problems doing this then use a spray belt dressing to find the squeal.

I have always used a Crayola crayon!

If you let it touch the side of the belt or the face of it..use black so you dont have a colored belt haha. It will quieten immediately and that will tell you which belt it is.

If it isn't a glazed belt...and at the worst case...ensure the top of the belt is flush with the top of the pulley groove...as it should be as the pulley groove is designed for (x) series belts (15) i believe. I couldn't cure my squeel even with quality goodyear gator back belts so i bought new pulleys and it cured the issue.

Get out the WD-40 & give a little pop to each belt while the motor's running, and the squeaky one will quiet down.

Replace them all. They are cheap.

Yup... I just replaced all three for only $40. Gates too! If you can't afford that, then you can't afford to fill-up these thirsty babies.

There is a product called belt dressing by Gunk (I think) which is an aerosol spray. It will buy you a few squeak-fee days.

If your truck has the one surpintine belt look at the groovs of the crank pully mine were cloged with small chunks of rubber from the belt and it was causing it to slip and squeal i removed the pully and sand blasted it and repainted it and it stoped.

If you dont have access to a sand blaster then a wire wheel will do the job as well.
