Re: Quality and fit

Look at Goodmark, they make really good panels for muscle cars, and they have a pretty good line of parts for the 73-87 trucks. Just a thought.

Re: Quality and fit

LMC is about as bad as you can get on tailgates, hoods, bedsides ect. Way too thin.

Re: Quality and fit

There was one member on here who bought a new tailgate from them and he said that the first time he went to push it shut, the tailgate dented in where he had his hand just from pushing the tailgate shut. Their stuff must be beer can thin. Sorry to hear about your trouble with them. If I was in business like that I could not live with myself sell people junk fenders ect. But that is me.

Re: Quality and fit

I guess I can't complain TOO much. Being bedsides they don't have to be that durable, although the material is less than great. I've got about 5 hours in it from beginning of assembly, and I'm only 3/8" out of square so far. They might work out in the long run, but they'll require some body work to be paintworthy, which pisses me off.

Re: Quality and fit

I will NEVER put anything but GM sheetmetal on any 73-87 I own. I have tried others, heard of others who have tried...but it is always the same bottom line...stick with GM metal.

As the old saying goes "live and learn". Sometimes you have to learn the hard way.

I think so, and last time I checked they were like $800...bed floor was well over $1000. I don't think they make them any longer, I believe this was what they had left in stock.

However, this was a couple years ago, not sure if this still holds true.

Re: Quality and fit

that's probably why, when I bought, I went with LMC. I ended up with both bedsides and inner front fenderwells for a little under 1,000.

Re: Quality and fit

Sorry guys I was actually working on my trucks this weekend.

Tri-Pluss make the best afternarket sheetmetal and they make Goodmarks sheetmetal. I sell both.
I have had the same problems with fitting on GM sheetmetal as I have with aftermarket, which is why bodyman make lots of money, so....

Yep, they have some left. They also warn you ahead of time if you want it as he did and will tell you once you pay for it its yours with no returns. I don't carry/supply them anymore because they were being shipped out (its an 7ftx3ft long box) and showed up with a dent here/there and customers would send it back expecting a flawless piece that you just bolt up. It is basically the same part you get everywhere else and isn't their stamping.

This is true for the 73-87 beds.....
