3 car garage

Here's the deal,
I normaly work on my trucks out at our shop. But due to business growth I don't think I will be working on many personal projects there any time soon so I'm moving my operation to my home... I have mixed feelings about this. I will have a much smalller area to work with 22x30, 3 car attached garage, but I will be able to work on my stuff when ever I feel like it!

How do you guys and gals have your home garages setup? I know this has been done before and I have waded through the searches, I also bought a few books. I would just like a fresh perspective, and as always pics would be nice. A 22x30 fills up quite quickly, and organization is key. I have much respect for the guys out there doing resto jobs under a canopy or out in the backyard.

Many Thanks,
Paul

Re: 3 car garage

MY work shop is 24x30. It would be nice to be bigger, but it works out OK since I only have the one project.

It seems like this would be the key. Focus on the project that is most important, or is closest to being done, and don't try to squeeze 3 projects and your wife DD into a 3 car garage.

Re: 3 car garage

Mine is a 40x70x14, I love it, I wanted plenty of room so I went big enough for a few cars

This was last summer, right after I got the floor done, hence why there is nothing inside

I drag all my crap out to the curb and work on it there.. the biggest crag is when people walk by and trip over your extension cords.

Re: 3 car garage

hey shopking, what were the construction costs on that thing? It's enormous! Curious what the cost breakdown was for your slab, trusses and siding.

I love the 94-96 Impalas, nice collection of cars in your sig.

Re: 3 car garage

This is my garage and I have to drive 2 hours to get to it Oh well, at least it doesn't snow here. My dad's garage is 24x30. It seems big until you fill it full of parts and a project.

Re: 3 car garage

I have a bench at the front of my one car garage. It has a vice on the left and a grinder on the right with hanging tool storage on the wall. To the left is my most organized and most used tool chest. on the wall beside that tool chest is a narrower less organized tool chest. It is tight, but that keeps me from wasting time walking around looking for stuff. If I can't see it, it isn't there.

I don't envy those of you who haul your tools to your car. I did that during college, and for 3 years at my first job. Even a small garage is better than spreading out in a parking lot or front yard.

Re: 3 car garage

Hey Igot...where you getting your materials? I'm in the planning stages of a 40x56x16 with 14x20 and 9x8 overhead doors, materials for poleshed constrution is around $18,000 if I construct it myself. Then you add floor tubing and lines to my wood boiler, cement slab, electrical(which I will do myself), insulation and interior steel, a couple door openers, and some excavating to level the site and dig in water line...this project is getting up near 40g's....and the wife's not liking the idea!!!

You can come up anytime and work in my garage if you want, as my apology to you. BTW: thanks for the compliment on the truck, I am so excited to finally have a garage to fit it in. Our house right now has a regular attached single car garage that is too narrow and too short.

I have a 40x40 shop with 12 foot ceilings and a two post 8000lb lift inside it. There are three doors (12x10,10x8, and 10x8) to get plenty of access. The floor is concrete as are the approach pads.

My 3 car garage barely has room for one truck in it. Too many tools and too much junk!
